The Palm Beach County Business Development Board hosted a familiarization tour in early 2010. The tour included a visit to the new east coast campus of Scripts Research Institute (shown to the left)and discussions with the leaders of Scripts Florida and the adjacent Max Planck Florida Institute about their rationale and experiences in developing their institutes in Palm Beach County. The consultants also toured R&D parks and industrial sites (both greenfield and brownfield) in a variety of county communities. The new world headquarter of Office Depot was visited and a strategic vision of a county inland port to be driven by increased commerce due to the widening of the Panama Canal was presented.
